Behind the scenes at RaymondCraft
A little about Jon Raymond, owner of RaymondCraft
Jon has been in the woodworking industry for 20+ years. For 11 years, he was a Lead Builder at a company that built trade show exhibits and retail fixtures. His creations were used by Target Headquarters, Valspar, Sears Craftsman, JCPenny, Whirlpool, Cargill, Emerson, General Mills, Home Furniture, and Mall of America.
Jon decided to start RaymondCraft in July 2015. After years of creating one-of-a-kind pieces for friends and family, he decided it was time to turn his side-hustle to a full time job. Many of the customers from our first year of business, are still repeat customers today. Jon is especially proud of the strong trust he has built with customers who are a widower, there is no better feeling than receiving a hand written thank you card after a job well done.
Jon also has an Associates Degree in Cabinetry from Hennepin Technical College. His favorite wood is aromatic eastern red cedar because of its coloration, complexity and smell. Over the years, Jon's colleagues have frequently called him "Eagle Eye," because he sees the details that others miss. He is the type of person who does in depth research, reads the directions and ensures he executes the right way the first time. When he's not making things for clients, he's in his shop making items for his wife's wish list or in the woods admiring nature’s beauty.
Cheers to 10 years of making wood look good!
